HJ - A catalogue of type.

How amazing does that book look. Its so inspiring, I may just have to purchase a copy despite its some what crazy name - can't believe somebody signed that off.

There is also some great work on Mike Perry's site. Honestly worth some of your time to peruse it.

Retro Computers - Works of Art?

Inspired by a few posts ago on minature model computers and pieces of electronics, I spotted an article in this months Wired Magazine titled Memory Lane.

Mark Richards has beautifully photographed a variety of retro computers. There is a published book of the work entitled, Core Memory: A Visual Survey of Vintage Computers, but a selection of photographs can be found on Mark Richard's site under index>core memory section.

Whale boy

Interesting site, insight and discussion on the process behind the work.

Darn you Olly Moss!!!

Some new tees have been released on Threadless and theres some good stuff as well. I think that the quality of tees have been slipping a bit recently, so its good to see some good looking pieces of work. Surprise suprise though, Olly Moss comes out with another great design. His website is worth a look as well even if not all the illustrations are at the same high standard.

There so much detail on this illustration - remind me of something Amy would do.

I really like the illustration style of this, especially on models.

Probably the best rollover ever?

Pixar Zoetrope

This is a great piece of work from Pixar. Not particularly shown to its best ability on this video (I guess it must of been filmed very cautiously). In case you don't get whats happening, a set of models spins very fast and LEDs are flashed to give the impression that the characters are animating - its amazing to see but one that you need to see in person.

There are are few days left to still catch the Pixar exhibition on at the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh - its well worth it in my opinion.

There is another video/view of the zoetrope on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x00I5A3A3dA

Crafts and Cakes - Exhibition/Sale

In case your in Edinburgh this coming bank holiday Monday, there are some of my knitted creatures on sale at an exhibition titled Crafts and Cakes at Sofi's Bar in Leith. Organised by Rachel Henderson (there's a pub knitting thing she does at the same bar). There should be plenty of other work on show and for sale. Free cakes as well. Starts at 6pm-late.

Hopefully I'll get some more of these monster on the go and get selling them online.

Enjoy!

Mmmm more cake

Wonder if they saw the thing that Threadless was doing with their cake competition.

Who wouldn't love to stick their head in the side of the window?

EDIT: Work by the very talented and creative ad agency Fallon.

Logos?

An interesting little animation of their history of Urban Outfitters. Shame this wasn't taken further as it feels like it could of been so much more.
Watch It

Ticky Ticky Ticky

Typewritters are awesome. Especially when you bought them or helped to track them down. I need to photograph some others.

Tote the new Tee?

Urban Outfitters are sporting some rather coolio tote bags. A new one is designed for every time a new store opens. Very very coolio!

UO

I really wish I was back in New York, Urban Outfitters always had cool clothes and stuff in there and were so cheap in comparison to over here in the UK. I bought a really cool Local Celebrity tee from there for about £10 and later managed to get dye all over it - I was gutted.

Are Lovely

An interesting site to make people more aware of the issues of sustainable graphic design and the power graphic designers have with regards to environmental issues. Hmmm interesting.

Serial Cut

The stuff over at http://www.serialcut.com/ is an a league of its own. Its really good to see people imaging making in 3D and cutting and pasting in the real world without choosing to just do it all digitally. Inspiring.

Funnily enough the stuff for Colour&Illusions Fan Poster a few images down - with the Purple words and such - we have some of those in our studio after stealing them from a skip in Glasgow one early morning.

Izima Kaoru - Super Likeee

I'm a really big fan of the BBC 3 TV show, Japanorama. On a recent issue focusing on Horror and Japan being the scariest and most haunted place in the world, the work of Kaoru Izima was featured.

His wok reminds me a lot of Joel Meyerowitz (who recently published a book of photos documenting and photographing the work done at ground zero after 9/11) and also of Andreas Gursky. All there have use colour amazingly well, completely saturated.

Izima's shift of fashion and celebrity photography, photographing the subject from the point of view of the dead subjects soul as it rises from the body and looks back on its self. I find it really fascinating and engaging way to look at something in a different way.

I'll have to try and find the interview of him on Japanorma somewhere on the Internet.

EDIT: Here is a link for the interview: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0IJF9f1gbqM

Justice - D.A.N.C.E (Version Finale)

An updated version (Final) of the brilliant animated tee video as posted a week ago. Few updates including some new shots and new tee designs being animated. Enjoy!

EDIT: Unfortunatly the decided to ditch the very last shot with the guy getting shot and the pink blood. Incase you haven't seen it, watch the previous version all the way to the end. Personally I think it was a shame to loose the shot (no pun intended).

Lauren Felton

Amazingly sleek and well photographyed.
